Amazing Sunday morning.

Perfect day in this part of the country.  Nice and quiet, just the way I like it.  Working on a simple little project for an old friend over in Arizona that needed some latigo string for some saddle and chap repair.  Don’t get me wrong–challenging and complicated is always welcome, but simple is a nice change of pace.

It’s a nice break from just doing gunleather.  Mix things up a little, so to speak.  I do have a bunch of holsters I’ll be working on this week.  If you’re in the market, or just curious, feel free to stop back by–I’ll have pictures of the process as they progress.  As long as I don’t forget to drag out the camera.

Hope you’re having a terrific Sunday.

Saddle stuff, gunleather, and semi-unplugged.

It’s finally cooled off around here and I’ve knocked the dust off a couple of saddle trees.  The gunleather keeps me busy, and as always, thank you to all of my holster and gunbelt customers.

As most of you know, I stopped accepting advance orders about a year ago.  It gives me the opportunity to make the stuff I want to, without the stress of a backlog.  It’s funny how that works–something will “click” with folks, and you get buried in orders for it.  I think you have to have a personality for the “always booked” lifestyle.  It just doesn’t suit me.

I’ll be working on more gear for the 1911, and continue to dress ’em up with florals, oak leaves and acorns.  Probably throw some basket stamping in there.

When I have products available, I’ll be posting them here with the handy little “Buy Now” button.  It’s a win-win…I don’t have a waiting list, and you don’t have a wait.

Bob Klenda. Colorado leatherworker and saddlemaker.

I’ve never met Mr. Bob Klenda, but over the years I have become well aware of who he is, and I’ve also got several of his patterns, and we’ve talked on the phone.

A two word description?  Nice guy.

Sam Andrews of Andrews Custom Leather makes a holster with Hank Strange.

It’s a little long, but this is an excellent video done by Hank Strange in Sam Andrews shop down in Alachua, Florida.  This one takes you step-by-step through Sam’s process of making a belt slide, or “pancake” holster for a Glock 19.  Sam recently moved his shop from Alachua to St. Augustine, Florida.

Sam’s process is a little different than mine, but similar in many ways.  He’s been at it for some 40-years, and he stays booked with an extended backlog.  As a Maker, I love watching other Maker’s processes.  I always learn something, and this video is no exception.  One thing I learned from this one is that Sam Andrews seems to be a heck of a nice guy.

Awesome video from Hank Strange on a process I’m always fascinated by.  Check out Andrews Custom Leather here Andrews Custom Leather and Hank’s YouTube Channel here Hank Strange YouTube.

Gibson Star Basket for 4 or 4.25″ Commander 1911. ***SOLD!***.

Gibson Gunleather and Bruce Gibson Design hand-stamped Star Basket, right-hand, high-ride belt slide pancake holster for the Commander length 1911 with 4, or 4.25-inch barrels.

The Star Basket pattern and border is not embossed–it is laid out and hand-stamped one tiny star at a time.  This process takes time, and hand-crafted attention to detail.

The sight track is molded in to accommodate the larger sights on modern pistols, and the stitching is flared to eliminate “sticking” or hanging up on the draw.

Retention is excellent.  Suitable for open or concealed carry.

Full trigger guard coverage, and cutaway for a comfortable, full-firing grip while holstered.

This holster is designed to fit dual-layer gun belts 1.5″ wide, and 1/4″ thick. This is a high-ride, open carry or concealed holster with a 15-degree muzzle-rear rake or cant.

The Natural oil finish will darken somewhat over time with exposure to sunlight.  A lot of folks describe this as “patina,” and it’s a really cool natural occurrence with veg-tan leather.

All we use is Premium American Hermann Oak vegetable tanned leather.  All proudly made in the USA.  Hermann Oak has been in the leather business in St. Louis, Missouri since 1881.  There is none better.

Heavy wheat colored nylon machine stitching.

Hand-fitted and hand-detailed. Holster edges are hand-beveled, waxed, finished, and burnished.

This holster is in-stock and ships via US Postal Service Priority Mail with delivery confirmation.

Satisfaction is guaranteed.

Replica gun, mags and other goodies are not included.

Questions are always welcome! And again, satisfaction is guaranteed.

Thank you for looking!

Florals on leather. Birth of a cuff. Little canvas.

Happy Tuesday!

A LOT happening around here.  All good, but for now, all “behind the scenes.”

We’re still working on (fighting with) the shopping cart.  So, thanks again for your patience–if you come across something you want, holler at me.

Gibson Leather Cuff. Thin Blue Line. **SOLD!** …More on the way!

***We have more of these coming soon.  I had no idea this would be as popular as it is.  If you want one, shoot me an email to BruceGibson@aol.com and I’ll put you on the list.***

Something a little different.  The “Thin Blue Line” leather wrist cuff, or bracelet.

I had seen a few of these around, and chewed on the idea of making one for several weeks.  This is what I came up with.

This one is just over 2-inches wide.  Actual width is 2-3/16″.

This one will fit a wrist size of 6-1/2″ to 7-1/4″.  It will be a little loose on a 6-1/2″ wrist, and a little snug on a 7-1/4″ wrist.

Closure is two heavy snaps.

Made with soft, premium chap leather.  It’s very comfortable.

This is the only one I have.  If you like it, and you want it, just click the Buy Now button below.  $56.95 with free USPS Priority Mail Shipping.
