The Tucker Gunleather HF-1. Mine’s over a decade old, but she’s still a beauty.

Tucker, gunleather, Tucker Gunleather, leather, holster, 1911, HF-1, model, Kimber, Raptor, 1911, Kimber America, Made in USA, premium, Hermann Oak, American leather, premium leather, 45, 45 ACP, AUTO, automatic, pistol, gun, gunleather, gun leather, holster
My Kimber Raptor napping comfortably in a much-loved Tucker Gunleather HF-1 OWB belt slide holster. Amazing design.

I know.  You’re not supposed to talk nice about other Maker’s product.  It’s business…go in for the kill, at all costs.  Win.  Always.  No matter what.

I call bullshit.

Fact is, I bought this holster second-hand over ten years ago.  “Stole” this holster would probably be more accurate.  I’ve loved it the entire time I’ve owned it, and it will easily out-last me.  It’s cool, it’s functional, and I’ve stolen more than a few of the “cool” features to enhance my own product.  Other than the belt slide, or pancake holster design in general, I’d say this design has probably been copied–attempted to be copied–more than any other.  Maybe with the exception of the Milt Sparks Summer Special, but I’d still say they’d at least be a tie.  The HF-1 has nothing in common with the Sparks Summer Special.  The Tucker HF-1 is a Southwest, sagebrush and tumbleweed functional tussler.  It is, what it is.  Awesome.

Phenomenal customer service, product excellence.  Function.  Pure function.  You should have one–at least one.  Rob Longenecker owns the operation, and he actually answers his phone, does what he says he’ll do, and has a bunch of time in the industry.  I’ve talked to Rob a few times over the years, and swapped a bunch of emails–he responds to those, too.  He’ll take care of you, or I wouldn’t be writing this telling you that he will.

Wrapping up this first blog post of 2018, I no longer accept advance orders.  I’ll build gunleather until I’m old, feeble and unable, but for now, I’m building what I want, and offering it here when it’s available.  I also love to brag on people I respect, that tell you what they’ll do, then do what they tell you.  Rob’s one of those people.

Don’t get me wrong–Rob’s gettin’ on up there, and if he ever retires, or slips a little, I’m 100% ready to steal this design and call it my own.  But, I don’t see that happening.  I’m convinced he’ll outlive me, so the only place you can get a true, Tucker HF-1, is from Rob.

Head over and check out what’s he’s got.  The website is www.TuckerGunleather.com

***SOLD!*** Gibson Black Cherry Star Basket for 4″ or 4.25″ Commander 1911. Shown with a 5″ Kimber Raptor.

I finished this one (and 9 other assorted models) on Friday.  Shot a few pics–it’s for a 4″ or 4.25″ Commander-length 1911, but I’m partial to an exposed muzzle, so I shot this one with a 5-inch, Kimber Raptor.

This is hand-stamped one little bitty star basket stamp at a time, and finished off with a Barry King flower border.  It’s a right-hand, high-ride with a full combat grip.  Your middle finger won’t rub on anything.  Hand-dyed Black Cherry, with hand-dyed black waxed and polished edges and slots.  The slots are designed to fit a dual-layer, 1/4″ thick heavy gunbelt.  The backside is left natural, so there’s no chance of any dye rub-off or transfer.  You can sweat in this thing and not look like you’re bleeding.  It’s made from premium, American-tanned Hermann Oak leather, and machine stitched with heavy black nylon cord.  15-degree muzzle-rear rake, and a molded sight channel.  Only one of these, and she’s in-stock and ready to hit the road via USPS Priority Mail.  You can have her in your hands within a week–and she’s even better lookin’ in person.

Gibson Star Basket for 4 or 4.25″ Commander 1911. ***SOLD!***.

Gibson Gunleather and Bruce Gibson Design hand-stamped Star Basket, right-hand, high-ride belt slide pancake holster for the Commander length 1911 with 4, or 4.25-inch barrels.

The Star Basket pattern and border is not embossed–it is laid out and hand-stamped one tiny star at a time.  This process takes time, and hand-crafted attention to detail.

The sight track is molded in to accommodate the larger sights on modern pistols, and the stitching is flared to eliminate “sticking” or hanging up on the draw.

Retention is excellent.  Suitable for open or concealed carry.

Full trigger guard coverage, and cutaway for a comfortable, full-firing grip while holstered.

This holster is designed to fit dual-layer gun belts 1.5″ wide, and 1/4″ thick. This is a high-ride, open carry or concealed holster with a 15-degree muzzle-rear rake or cant.

The Natural oil finish will darken somewhat over time with exposure to sunlight.  A lot of folks describe this as “patina,” and it’s a really cool natural occurrence with veg-tan leather.

All we use is Premium American Hermann Oak vegetable tanned leather.  All proudly made in the USA.  Hermann Oak has been in the leather business in St. Louis, Missouri since 1881.  There is none better.

Heavy wheat colored nylon machine stitching.

Hand-fitted and hand-detailed. Holster edges are hand-beveled, waxed, finished, and burnished.

This holster is in-stock and ships via US Postal Service Priority Mail with delivery confirmation.

Satisfaction is guaranteed.

Replica gun, mags and other goodies are not included.

Questions are always welcome! And again, satisfaction is guaranteed.

Crazy months and no more backlog. Almost.

GIBSON, STAR, BASKET, STAMP, NATURAL, WHEAT, THREAD, 1911, COMMANDER, KIMBER, COLT, SPRINGFIELD
Gibson Star Basket for 1911 with 4″ or 4.25″ barrel. Hand-stamped one tiny little star at a time.

Caught up.  Finally.  Or, 99% there, which is close enough for me.

You’ve all heard me bitch  complain over the years about being slammed, booked, backlogged, etc.  Not anymore.  At least not until enough brain cells die that I forget the agony of being booked weeks in advance, and let the word “yes” slip out in response to an emotional plea.

Nothing will get you caught up faster than saying “no.”

In the meantime, I’m enjoying the creating–the making of things that I’ve had rattling around in my head for what seems like forever.  Things that I haven’t had the luxury of available time to make.  If all goes according to plan, those products will be appearing here on our humble little website.

Speaking of which, we have the holster above.  Smooth, eh?

This is one of our hand-stamped, Star Basket belt slide/OWB holsters for the Commander-length 1911 (4″ or 4.25″ barrel) in natural premium American-tanned Hermann Oak leather with a flower border.  15-degree rake, high-ride, full firing grip with a molded sight track.  The stitching color is called “wheat,” or what I’d describe as a really light tan.  This one’s had a few hours of warm Florida sunshine to give it a head-start on a honey patina.  Edges are hand-beveled, hand-waxed, and hand-burnished.  Retention and concealment are excellent, but I think it really shines when it can be carried openly in the non-snowflake jurisdictions that allow that kind of activity.  I really enjoyed making this one–so much so, that I’ll be making more as we move along.

Backside detail.

Questions and comments are always welcome.  Just send me an email to BruceGibson@aol.com, or use the contact box below.

I only have this one for now.  If you want it, it’s $150.00 via PayPal with free shipping by way of the US Postal Service and Priority Mail with Tracking/Delivery Confirmation.  Just click the “Buy Now” button, and we’ll get it on its way.

***SOLD!*** One-off. Star Basket for 1911 Commander

***SOLD!***

This is a slightly new design we’ve been kicking around lately.  Belt slide or “pancake” holster for the 4″ or 4.25″ Commander-length 1911.  This one is pictured with a Kimber Pro Raptor II with a 4-inch barrel.  The rake is 15-degrees muzzle-rear, with belt slots for a 1-1/2″ wide dual-layer gun belt.  This holster is unlined, natural Hermann Oak American-tanned leather with heavy white nylon stitching.  The face is hand-stamped with a Barry King star basket stamp, and Barry King flower border.  Retention and concealment are excellent, and the ride is high.  This is an excellent holster for open carry if one is so inclined.  Detail molded on the backside for retention, and the site track is molded in.

Busy week. Blessed with a healthy to-do list.

DSCN2885

Happily busy.  Two words I’ve found that tend to go together.  A complimentary combination.

The holster above being modeled by one of my Kimber 1911’s is a right-hand, high-ridin’, 15-degree muzzle-rear belt slide in Natural, premium, Hermann Oak leather.  It’s got a molded-in site track, and flared stitching at the muzzle to eliminate any front site hang-up issues.  It’s hand-detailed for excellent retention, and what I hope are decent looks.  Belt slots are set for a dual-layer 1.5″ wide gunbelt.  These are built to accommodate a 4″, 4.25″ or 5″ 1911.  With a 5″ barrel you’ll have about 3/4″ of muzzle exposed–like the photo above.  I’ve built a bunch of these this week, so if you want one, shoot me a message, or an e-mail to BruceGibson@aol.com .  $125.00 plus $9.95 USPS Priority Mail Shipping with Delivery Confirmation.  These are in-stock and ready to ship.  If my stock levels get low, I’ll update, but for now, I have a bunch of ’em.

DSCN2899

This one’s carrying a stainless Kimber Pro Raptor II with a 4-inch barrel.  It’s a tad-bit smaller than the first one at the top, but it will accept a barrel length of 4″, 4.25″ or 5″.  15-degree rake, right-hand OWB belt slide.  Always premium Hermann Oak leather.  This one’s Natural Oil, and it’s had some exposure to Florida sunshine.  It’s got a head-start on the “patina” everybody’s talking about nowadays.  Stitching is heavy white nylon, and all edges are hand beveled, polished, waxed and burnished.  Painstakingly (and sometimes painfully) hand-moulded and detailed for awesome retention.  This little guy is $125.00, plus $9.95 USPS Priority Mail shipping with Delivery Confirmation.  I’ve got several of these in-stock and ready to roll outta here–if that changes, of course I’ll update the blog here.

If you want one of either, or both, shoot me an e-mail (BruceGibson@aol.com) and I’ll send you a PayPal invoice.  Shipments to Florida get tagged with another 6% for Sales Tax–I’ll go ahead and apologize to my fellow Floridians in advance.

Thanks for the look!  Here’s a couple more pics.

Quality time in the shop with my Kimber Raptor. We’re back to accepting a few orders, too.

GIBSON BENCH WITH HOLSTERED 1911--BLACK AND WHITE EFFECT--JAN 15 2016

As most of you know I’d stopped accepting advance orders over a year ago.  I wanted to work on some new ideas, and new gear in areas that included gunleather, but also incorporated my other interests…specifically, cowboy and rodeo gear, which is where we started this whole deal way back in 1986.

This web domain is new, and all this technology is new–to me.  I’m still figuring it out when I’m not doing the part I love, which is the bench-time part.  We’ll get the shopping cart up and running…it just takes a while.

I’m getting a pile of inquiries on ordering, pricing, and availability.  I’m workin’ on that.  Gunbelt pricing is simple…plain, dual-layer gunbelts start at $150.00, and the crosscut and basket stamp are $199.00.  The holsters I’m building are all outside-the-waistband (OWB) for a very limited gun list.  My focus is on 1911’s in 4″, 4.25″, and 5″ barrels.  They start at $125.00.

Let me know if you have something in mind.  If I don’t make it, I’ll likely know someone who does.
