The Tucker Gunleather HF-1. Mine’s over a decade old, but she’s still a beauty.

My Kimber Raptor napping comfortably in a much-loved Tucker Gunleather HF-1 OWB belt slide holster. Amazing design.

I know.  You’re not supposed to talk nice about other Maker’s product.  It’s business…go in for the kill, at all costs.  Win.  Always.  No matter what.

I call bullshit.

Fact is, I bought this holster second-hand over ten years ago.  “Stole” this holster would probably be more accurate.  I’ve loved it the entire time I’ve owned it, and it will easily out-last me.  It’s cool, it’s functional, and I’ve stolen more than a few of the “cool” features to enhance my own product.  Other than the belt slide, or pancake holster design in general, I’d say this design has probably been copied–attempted to be copied–more than any other.  Maybe with the exception of the Milt Sparks Summer Special, but I’d still say they’d at least be a tie.  The HF-1 has nothing in common with the Sparks Summer Special.  The Tucker HF-1 is a Southwest, sagebrush and tumbleweed functional tussler.  It is, what it is.  Awesome.

Phenomenal customer service, product excellence.  Function.  Pure function.  You should have one–at least one.  Rob Longenecker owns the operation, and he actually answers his phone, does what he says he’ll do, and has a bunch of time in the industry.  I’ve talked to Rob a few times over the years, and swapped a bunch of emails–he responds to those, too.  He’ll take care of you, or I wouldn’t be writing this telling you that he will.

Wrapping up this first blog post of 2018, I no longer accept advance orders.  I’ll build gunleather until I’m old, feeble and unable, but for now, I’m building what I want, and offering it here when it’s available.  I also love to brag on people I respect, that tell you what they’ll do, then do what they tell you.  Rob’s one of those people.

Don’t get me wrong–Rob’s gettin’ on up there, and if he ever retires, or slips a little, I’m 100% ready to steal this design and call it my own.  But, I don’t see that happening.  I’m convinced he’ll outlive me, so the only place you can get a true, Tucker HF-1, is from Rob.

Head over and check out what’s he’s got.  The website is www.TuckerGunleather.com

Sam Andrews of Andrews Custom Leather makes a holster with Hank Strange.

It’s a little long, but this is an excellent video done by Hank Strange in Sam Andrews shop down in Alachua, Florida.  This one takes you step-by-step through Sam’s process of making a belt slide, or “pancake” holster for a Glock 19.  Sam recently moved his shop from Alachua to St. Augustine, Florida.

Sam’s process is a little different than mine, but similar in many ways.  He’s been at it for some 40-years, and he stays booked with an extended backlog.  As a Maker, I love watching other Maker’s processes.  I always learn something, and this video is no exception.  One thing I learned from this one is that Sam Andrews seems to be a heck of a nice guy.

Awesome video from Hank Strange on a process I’m always fascinated by.  Check out Andrews Custom Leather here Andrews Custom Leather and Hank’s YouTube Channel here Hank Strange YouTube.

Gibson Star Basket for 4 or 4.25″ Commander 1911. ***SOLD!***.

Gibson Gunleather and Bruce Gibson Design hand-stamped Star Basket, right-hand, high-ride belt slide pancake holster for the Commander length 1911 with 4, or 4.25-inch barrels.

The Star Basket pattern and border is not embossed–it is laid out and hand-stamped one tiny star at a time.  This process takes time, and hand-crafted attention to detail.

The sight track is molded in to accommodate the larger sights on modern pistols, and the stitching is flared to eliminate “sticking” or hanging up on the draw.

Retention is excellent.  Suitable for open or concealed carry.

Full trigger guard coverage, and cutaway for a comfortable, full-firing grip while holstered.

This holster is designed to fit dual-layer gun belts 1.5″ wide, and 1/4″ thick. This is a high-ride, open carry or concealed holster with a 15-degree muzzle-rear rake or cant.

The Natural oil finish will darken somewhat over time with exposure to sunlight.  A lot of folks describe this as “patina,” and it’s a really cool natural occurrence with veg-tan leather.

All we use is Premium American Hermann Oak vegetable tanned leather.  All proudly made in the USA.  Hermann Oak has been in the leather business in St. Louis, Missouri since 1881.  There is none better.

Heavy wheat colored nylon machine stitching.

Hand-fitted and hand-detailed. Holster edges are hand-beveled, waxed, finished, and burnished.

This holster is in-stock and ships via US Postal Service Priority Mail with delivery confirmation.

Satisfaction is guaranteed.

Replica gun, mags and other goodies are not included.

Questions are always welcome! And again, satisfaction is guaranteed.

Thank you for looking!

$125.00 with Free Priority Mail shipping with Delivery Confirmation and tracking.

A little belt slide for the SIG P238, Kimber Micro or Colt Mustang.

Busy, rainy week around here so far.  I think it’s been a week since I’ve seen enough sun to bother mentioning.  It does make me appreciate it when it does show up.  Worked on a couple of prototypes for the Sig P238, and just finished the finalized design.  This is the first fully-operational belt slide pancake rig I’ve made for that cool little .380.

This is the final prototype, and it’s ready for a home.  Outside the waistband with a 20-degree muzzle-rear rake, or cant.  Slots will fit a 1-1/2″ wide, dual-layer (double thick) gun belt.

Stitching color is Wheat (or Natural).

The Hermann Oak leather for this one is natural.  It is unlined.

We built this one with a sweat shield.  Also known as a slide guard, shirt guard, shirt protector, etc., etc.  That’s where we put the Maker Stamp.

It’s handmade, machine sewn, hand beveled, waxed, burnished and finished.  Also hand-detailed and fitted.

Questions are always welcomed.  Contact me through the website, or send an email to BruceGibson@aol.com .  Regular price on these will be $79.00, shipped.

This one’s a prototype, so it’s not as spotless and pretty as the regular production models will be.

This one is $59.00, shipping included via USPS Priority Mail with tracking/Delivery Confirmation.  This is the only one, so if you want it, use the “Buy Now” button below to grab it and give it a home.  We’ll ship it out in a day or so.  *Little Blue Gun not included.*

Crazy months and no more backlog. Almost.

GIBSON, STAR, BASKET, STAMP, NATURAL, WHEAT, THREAD, 1911, COMMANDER, KIMBER, COLT, SPRINGFIELD
Gibson Star Basket for 1911 with 4″ or 4.25″ barrel. Hand-stamped one tiny little star at a time.

Caught up.  Finally.  Or, 99% there, which is close enough for me.

You’ve all heard me bitch  complain over the years about being slammed, booked, backlogged, etc.  Not anymore.  At least not until enough brain cells die that I forget the agony of being booked weeks in advance, and let the word “yes” slip out in response to an emotional plea.

Nothing will get you caught up faster than saying “no.”

In the meantime, I’m enjoying the creating–the making of things that I’ve had rattling around in my head for what seems like forever.  Things that I haven’t had the luxury of available time to make.  If all goes according to plan, those products will be appearing here on our humble little website.

Speaking of which, we have the holster above.  Smooth, eh?

This is one of our hand-stamped, Star Basket belt slide/OWB holsters for the Commander-length 1911 (4″ or 4.25″ barrel) in natural premium American-tanned Hermann Oak leather with a flower border.  15-degree rake, high-ride, full firing grip with a molded sight track.  The stitching color is called “wheat,” or what I’d describe as a really light tan.  This one’s had a few hours of warm Florida sunshine to give it a head-start on a honey patina.  Edges are hand-beveled, hand-waxed, and hand-burnished.  Retention and concealment are excellent, but I think it really shines when it can be carried openly in the non-snowflake jurisdictions that allow that kind of activity.  I really enjoyed making this one–so much so, that I’ll be making more as we move along.

Backside detail.

Questions and comments are always welcome.  Just send me an email to BruceGibson@aol.com, or use the contact box below.

I only have this one for now.  If you want it, it’s $150.00 via PayPal with free shipping by way of the US Postal Service and Priority Mail with Tracking/Delivery Confirmation.  Just click the “Buy Now” button, and we’ll get it on its way.

Gibson Saltillo Star Basket Leather Gun Belt. Hand stamped and handmade in the good ol’ USA.

GIBSON SALTILLO 1.5" LEATHER GUN BELT GUNBELT HANDMADE HAND STAMPED CARVED HERMANN OAK

The credit for this idea goes to a long-time customer.  I happen to love it–thanks, Mike!

This is one of our 1-1/2″ wide, dual-layer (lined) leather gunbelts.  It’s a cool color we call “Saltillo” for the deep red highlights.  This one is hand stamped with the Barry King star basket stamp, one tiny little star at a time.  The border is also a Barry King stamp.  Stitching is heavy white nylon.  The hand-stamped leather keeper is hand finished, and hand molded to fit this belt.  It’s also hand sewn with linen thread in order to avoid a metal staple, which would corrode over time and make a mess of the works.  The edges are beveled by hand, painstakingly dyed by hand, then waxed and burnished to a fine polish.  There are seven (7) adjustment holes spaced 3/4″ apart.  It’s topped off with a heavy, polished solid brass Weaver buckle, and two floral brass Chicago screws.

If you want one of your very own, please feel free to order below.

If you have questions, shoot me an email to BruceGibson@aol.com, or use the contact form below.

$195.00 plus $12.95 USPS Priority Mail Shipping, Insured with Delivery Confirmation/Tracking.  Total is $207.95  (Florida Orders please contact me for Sales Tax).

“I wish I had his job. He’s living my dream.”

Gibson, leather, floral, carving, practice, pieces, stamping, carving, leatherwork, leathercraft, work, craft
Practice pieces. Carving and stamping flowers, vines and leaves.

An old friend of mine said that to my wife a few years ago.  He was a lawyer, and had been for many years.  He passed away a while back, far too young, and I was just thinking about him, and what he’d said to her about this “job” of mine.

I love what I do.  Most of the time.  I suppose most folks that have chased a dream, do.  I worked in the legal field for many years, but for me, it was like trying to nail Jello to a tree.  Constant stress, and no sense of worthy accomplishment.  Even good outcomes were intangible, and rarely, if ever, good for both sides.  I don’t miss it.

With this gig, it’s different.  It’s not all wonder and awe–it has its moments.  But, even when it’s bad, it’s awful damn good.
